People living in areas such as Kingsland, St Christopher, Enterprise and Chancery Lane in Christ Church are asking for better service from the Barbados Water Authority (BWA).
They detailed their struggles yesterday after not having a steady supply of water since Thursday as a result of infrastructure work at the Hampton Pumping Station in St Philip, but some householders were more upset at the BWA’s (water truck) operators.
In Kingsland Gardens, a woman who gave her name as “Miss Jordan” complained about the water truck drivers.
“The water trucks were here yesterday but I would like to know who delegate these people. Years ago they would blow their horns to let you know they were passing, but now they just drive by and they gone. I’m a sick woman, I can’t lift buckets of water so I put the buckets outside for them to fill and they just drive past,” she told the Daily Nation.
Miss Jordan said she was fortunate to have been able to cook after the water came on around 5 a.m. and her daughter had been able to start the process, but it soon went off again and she had not been able to wash wares or shower.
In Chancery Lane, Fabian Waldron said that not everyone was being serviced by the water trucks. (CA)
