Military and law enforcement personnel were given a Bajan send-off last week after the conclusion of Exercise Tradewinds 2024. Brandon’s Beach, St Michael, was transformed into a party spot with food tents and bars and a stage where local acts such as Lil Rick and soca queen Alison Hinds entertained the troops and their guests.

There was also a massage tent to ease some of the aches and pains associated with some of the intense training during the two weeks.

Commander Mark Peterson, host nation co-director, said he was extremely happy at the turnout and that the men and women had a chance to finally relax and enjoy the festivities.

“The feedback was that Exercise Tradewinds was a huge success. [Today] was about logistics coming together with help from the National Cultural Foundation who worked with us to pull this event off. The guys enjoyed themselves in Barbados, they loved the training, the country is beautiful and they are sorry they didn’t have more time to explore it and enjoy it.

“They are looking forward to coming back, even if it is not for a training exercise but just to enjoy Barbados.”
