Barbados remains under a Hurricane Watch as Tropical Storm Beryl is expected to intensify into a major hurricane before reaching the island late Sunday night. The storm is projected to pass approximately 45 km (26 miles) south of Barbados.

As of 2 PM on Saturday, Beryl was located near 10.0N 48.4W, about 1270 km (790 miles) east-southeast of Barbados, with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph (100 km/h) and moving west at 23 mph (37 km/h). The minimum central pressure is 998 mb.

As Beryl approaches, residents can expect storm-force winds and heavy rainfall, with accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Severe thunderstorms may lead to power outages and service interruptions.

Hazardous marine conditions are expected, prompting small craft and high surf warnings due to above-normal sea swells.

The public is urged to follow guidance from the Department of Emergency Management and monitor updates from the Barbados Meteorological Service (BMS), Department of Emergency Management (DEM), and official news websites and social media pages.

Residents should stay informed and prepared as the situation develops.
