The actions of Lashawn Shaquon Hinds three years ago in raping a tourist and the aggravated burglary of the couple’s accommodation has resulted in tremendous damage to that family.

For that, the 20-year-old Lower Carlton, St James man was given 16 years behind bars for the burglary and 13 for the rape, both of which occurred on July 4, 2021.

On Wednesday, Justice Pamela Beckles severely reprimanded the convicted man in Supreme Court No. 5.

“Such conduct strikes at the very heart of every person’s entitlement to feel secure in their place of abode. Your behaviour showed a complete disregard for the privacy, sense of security and well-being of the victims in this matter. Your action was deliberate and premeditated, in that you went armed with the preconceived plan of burglarising the residents,” the judge stated. (SD)
