Economic miracles will not happen for Barbados by its people just wishing for them.
That is the admonition being sent by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart in his Christmas Day Message; while Opposition Leader Mia Mottley has urged citizens to work together to combat whatever circumstances they and the country are facing.
The two, who are preparing to lead their political parties into the general election early in the New Year, touched different points while reflecting on the Christmas story.
“It is not in avoiding our duties as citizens that miracles will happen. It is rather in discharging our duties as citizens that the miracles we so earnestly desire, and of which we so passionately speak, can take place,” Stuart said. (ES/BW)
