Update: Shooting victim identified

The Barbados Police Service has identified the victim in today’s shooting incident.

The police reported earlier this evening that 20-year-old Amar O’Brien Douglas of Dash Valley, St. George died after being shot near the block known as Camp Survival, at Cutting Road, Haggatt Hall, St Michael.

Police said it is the country’s 28th murder for 2024.

The shooting occurred just after 1 p.m.

According to police, a group of men was liming on a block area known as “Camp Survival’ located near Cutting Road, when a motorcar drove up and two men alighted and opened fire, causing the crowd to scatter.

The deceased was hit and fell to the ground, after which he was transported by a private motor vehicle to the Queen Elizabeth hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical officials. (BA/PR)
