Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and charged 22-year-old Wrensford Ricardo Holder of Kew Road, Bank Hall, St Michael with a number of drug related offences which were allegedly committed on Tuesday, October 3, at the Grantley Adams International Airport.

Holder was charged with possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

On October 3, Holder arrived on the island by air from Jamaica. Having cleared Immigration, Holder proceeded to Customs. Having placed his luggage on the counter as requested by Custom Officers for a search to be conducted, Holder immediately ran off making good his escape.

The matter was reported to the police, and investigations revealed that 16 transparent packages – eight in each of his two suitcases – contained cannabis concealed in the suitcases.

The total weight of the cannabis was 14 kilogrammes, with an estimated street value of $112 000.

Investigations were conducted into the matter and yesterday Holder was arrested and charged for the offences.

Holder appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch in the District ‘C’ Magistrates Court today. He was remanded to prison and will reappear in the District ‘B’ Magistrates Court on December 20. (PR)
