CARDI to host open day next week

Farmers and agriculturalists at heart will have the opportunity to observe various cultivation practices when the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) hosts its Open Day on Tuesday, December 5.

It will be held at CARDI’s Demonstration and Training Centre, located on the compound of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management, Graeme Hall, Christ Church.

The Open Day is slated to get under way with an opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Among the activities will be a field tour featuring corn varietal evaluation, hot pepper breeding, a sweet potato germplasm bank, and a mulberry demonstration plot.

There will also be demonstrations of the use of agricultural equipment, seed and forage samples, as well as a poster exhibition. (BGIS)
