Update: Ellerslie student’s finger severed

Today’s altercation at Ellerslie Secondary School has left a 17-year-old boy with one finger severed and another partially severed.

Police say the boy received several chops to his right hand with a cutlass.

The injuries stemmed from an altercation involving a group of students. It occurred around 11:50 a.m. in the canteen during the lunch break.

The boy was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance.

Police are investigating. (PR/NB)
