One of Barbados’ most popular beaches is out of bounds for Tramaine Javon Parris.

If he is caught near Browne’s Beach, Bay Street, St Michael, he will be in breach of a bail condition imposed by the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The 23-year-old, of Parks Road, St Joseph, had admitted he had cocaine, but denied assaulting Special Constable Larry Babb in the execution of his duties on November 20.

He was, however, not required to plead to the charge that having been arrested for possession of cocaine, he escaped lawful custody with the use of force on the same date.

Parris was represented by attorney Mohia Ma’at.

Prosecutor Sergeant Cameron Gibbons said that while he would not be objecting to the accused being released, the matters were serious and he would be asking for conditions, such as reporting to police and staying away from Browne’s Beach, to be attached to the bail.

Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant granted Parris $9 000 bail and ordered him to report to District “F” Police Station every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday by midday, and told him to stay away from Browne’s Beach.

The accused returns to court on March 1.

The prosecutor, in outlining the evidence for the cocaine offence, told the court that lawmen were on that beach when they had occasion to speak to Parris.

He was later searched and a plastic bag with a white substance was found. Parris confessed that the one gramme of cocaine, worth $15, was his. (HLE)
