ST GEORGE LIONS marked their territory when they defeated the Xion Young Ballers 21-9 on Sunday during the Barbados Workers’ Union Netball Tournament.
Led by Chriska Padmore, who netted 21 of her 30 attempts, St George Lions scored an easy win in the Orlando Gabby Scott Zone.
In the same zone, the Police Boys’ and Girls’ Club beat UAC 22-13, with Ginae Austin contributing of 16 from 21 attempts with support from Monica Waithe who shot six of 11.
Goal shooter Addis Warde netted 19 of 34 to help St James Stillettos defeat Norlink 21-16.
In the Ulric Sealy Zone, NIS Ballers edged out the Warriors 24-23.
Renata Hazell scored 16 of 21 attempts, supported by Lynette Holder who shot eight of 12.
In other matches, UWISSA defeated Central Bank 35-12, Steve’s Building Works won easily against Newbury 49-23, Shottas beat Progressive 42-34 and Elite won by default from Jetstars.
In a Monday match, Emisha Barrow netted 20 of 26 and Leandra Goodman 17 of 26 to lead Steve’s Building Works to a 37-30 win against Boomerz Combine in the Linda Brooks Zone.
Boomerz took a three-goal lead during the first quarter but Steve’s Building Works levelled the scores before moving ahead in the third quarter. For Boomerz, Alicia Adams shot 18 of 31, and Renee Rudder 12 of 14. (RG)
