With the appointment of the island’s chief cop out of the way, several of the force’s high ranking officers could soon follow suit.

That assurance has been given by Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite, who has said the Police Service Commission (PSC) is awaiting recommendations before it could proceed any further.

His comments have come two weeks after Tyrone Griffith was appointed as the island’s Commissioner of Police after acting in the role for four years.

“From what I’ve been told the management of the police needs to make recommendations to the PSC and once those recommendations are made then the PSC will act on them as speedily as possible,” Brathwaite told NATION NEWS.

“The last time I spoke to the Commissioner he told me that they were working feverishly on making those recommendations. There are a lot of them to be made and as soon as they are done; I’ve spoken to the chairman of the PSC, because I, like the Commissioner, am concerned about the length of time it has been taking, but there is a process . . . It is not an easy process giving the number of vacancies and the number of individuals involved,” the Attorney General added.
