Second hand cars have seemingly become the first choice option for shoppers.
While car sales at the island’s major dealerships have sharply declined since the 400 per cent increase of the National Social Responsibility Levy (NSRL) came into effect on July 1, some used car lots have reported that sales have not been affected.
Operations manager of West ’N’ Motors Inc., Rosalie Browne, told the DAILY NATION that business had not fallen off.
She explained that while the move by Government to raise the NSRL from two to ten per cent would have resulted in the prices of brand new cars being increased by thousands of dollars, it would not have had a similar effect on used cars. (RB)
