The question as to where Deandra Dottin is has been answered. West Indies head coach Shane Deitz yesterday confirmed that the sensational allrounder is in Canada doing her rehabilitation from a long-term injury she sustained in the Women’s Indian Premier league (WIPL) earlier this year.

NATIONSPORTS understands that she was given a 12-week time out of the game before she makes a return to the game. The 33-year-old did not feature as the West Indies failed to reach the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup at the qualifying tournament in Pakistan in April.

Her comeback is planned for The Hundred tournament in England later this summer. Dottin is one of the most successful players in West Indies history with 287 matches since her debut in 2008, scoring 6789 runs and taking 150 wickets.

“She is injured, and she is recovering. She is in Canada where she lives. She won’t be available for the T20I. Her rehab is going according to plan. They are focusing on The Hundred and then the Women’s Caribbean Premier League,” Deitz said.

He was speaking at the end of the third and final One-Day International against South Africa at the 3Ws Oval at Cave Hill. The two teams will meet in the first T20 International on Friday at the same venue at 2pm.
