A small craft advisory is again in effect for Barbados, this time for wind speeds between 20-25 knots.

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) says these conditions are forecast to persist throughout this afternoon with improvement tomorrow Monday, June 30, 2025.

The strengthening Atlantic High pressure cell is generating high winds across the southern Windwards, with wind speeds between 20-25 knots (37-46 km/h), and sea swells near 2.5m (8ft) being recorded by the BMS this morning.

Wind speeds are expected to gradually decrease overnight, and sea swells between 2.0-2.5m (6-8ft) are forecast through tomorrow afternoon.

Moderate open water swells can cause a challenge to operations of smaller vessels at times and those incapable of withstanding these wind speeds and swell magnitudes should remain close to sheltered waters or safe harbour.

A small craft advisory shall be issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots and/or sea swells of 2.5–3.0 meters (8–10 feet) and/or reduced visibility (less than 10 km but greater than 5 km) are affecting or forecast to affect the marine area within the next 48 hours.

This bulletin will be terminated at 6 a.m. Monday, or sooner, if conditions warrant. (PR/SAT)
