THE RELIEF DRIVE by Barbadians for the hurricane-ravaged islands of the Lesser Antilles continues apace today.
As Britain’s Royal Air Force uses Barbados as its staging area for relief efforts for its affected colonies, a group of young professionals with educational ties to Cuba have partnered with the Clement Payne Movement, the Venezuelan Embassy in Barbados, Riddim Tribe and the CARICOM Youth Ambassadors to solicit and send non-perishable items to residents in Antigua, Barbuda, Haiti, The Dominican Republic and Cuba.
The Clement Payne Movement’s headquarters in Crumpton Street and the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation in Hastings are the drop off points.
Yesterday President of the Clement Payne Movement, David Comissiong, said when the group of Barbadian professionals, who were all graduates of the Cuban Scholarship Programme, approached the Clement Payne Movement about the humanitarian drive, his immediate response was yes. (HLE)
