DESPITE HAVING BEING diagnosed as dyslexic, Daveed Gittens always had a dream of attending the University of Waterloo.
That dream became a reality yesterday when it was announced that he had been awarded a Barbados Scholarship.
In an interview with the DAILY NATION, Gittens, who received Grade 1s in accounting, pure mathematics, physics, Caribbean studies and communication studies while at Harrison College (HC), said attending the Canadian university to study actuarial science was a goal he had since third form.
“I really wanted to go to Waterloo. Ever since I was in third form and they came to my school, I researched them and I found out about actuarial science. Since then I’ve always wanted to go there and the scholarship was my only path,” he said. (RB)
