ST LUCIA PRIME Minister Allen Chastanet has announced an island-wide shutdown until 1 p.m.

Tropical Storm Harvey is expected to pass directly over the island around 8 a.m. and will continue to affect the island into the afternoon.

“The latest information from NEMO and the Met office is that Tropical Storm Harvey is expected to intensify over the next two hours.

“As such all offices, commercial and Government, should remain closed until 1 p.m.,” he said in a statement.

The 1 p.m. time is conditional to receiving the all clear by noon and Chastanet urged everyone to remain indoors and continue to exercise caution.

“Also asking everyone to stay close to your radios for any further updates. We are anticipating that the airports should open up at 10 a.m. We asking everyone before they go to the airport to please check with SLASPA or your airline.

“I thank you very much for your consideration and may God continue to bless Saint Lucia,” he said. (NB)
