The following is a statement from Archbishop of  the West Indies and Bishop of Barbados Dr John Holder on the passing of retired Dean Frank Marshall.

THE DIOCESE OF Barbados is saddened on learning of the death of Dean Frank Marshall. At this time we remember his wife Beverly, his children Paul and Claire, his grandchildren, his siblings and his other relatives in our prayers.

Dean Marshall gave to the diocese many good years of ministry. Ordained in 1969, he travelled during the next forty-eight years, on a path of ministry in this diocese that touched and shaped many lives.

In his ministry, he was able to blend a down to earth human touch with his deep concern for those in his pastoral care. The many parishes in which he served thank God for his ministry to them.

dr-frank-marshallHe served this diocese well at several levels of ministry. His appointment as Dean of St Michael Cathedral was an indication of his possession of the many pastoral skills developed over the years, that can make a great difference in the ministry of the ‘Mother Church’ of the diocese.

His serving as Vicar General on many occasions allowed him to bring these skills to bear on the ministry of the wider diocese.

Dean Marshall was a dedicated priest and made a contribution to this diocese, and to the Church in the Province of the West Indies that can hardly be assessed by his years in ministry.  His contribution at all levels is deeply appreciated.

His passion for his Church was matched by that for his country. He contributed significantly to the development of our country and for this we are grateful.

The diocese has lost and outstanding priest and the country a model citizen. We thank God for the contribution he has made to the Church and to the world.

On behalf of the Diocese of Barbados and The Church in the Province of the West Indies I extend sincere condolences to his family.
