THE MAJORITY OF COMPLAINTS made to the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) are for alleged unprofessional conduct by officers.

And most of these grievances are being filed by “middle to mature adults”, and males top the list of complainants, said chairman of the authority LeRoy Inniss.

In the Police Complaints Authority 2016 report to Parliament, the former High Court judge said the statutory body was “pleased to report that as was the case in previous years the complaints do not include allegations of bribery, drug-related activity, corruption or other serious matters of that nature”.

“For the year 2016 . . . 12 complaints were made by males and seven by females. Of these, the average age for males was 51 years and females 47 years. The demographic portrayed from the statistics show the majority of complaints ranged from the middle-aged to mature adults,” Inniss said.  (SC)
