THE RECENT UPSURGE in accidents and violent incidents has been taking a toll on the Accident Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Chief executive officer Dr Dexter James said they appear to have become the “new normal”.
James was speaking at the QEH’s annual corporate planning meeting held at the Hilton Hotel yesterday.
James told the heads of his departments, Minister of Health John Boyce and other officials from the ministry that while the hospital’s disease profile had “remained pretty much constant”; accidents and incidents were becoming the newest public health issue. (HLE)
