THE WARREN brothers, Robert and Ian, are among strong combinations tackling the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 60th anniversary Sol June Safari today and tomorrow.
Forty miles longer than the 110-mile first event of 1957, and with effects of a tropical wave in the forecast, the pair has chosen a Land Rover Defender as the machine for the day and night affair.
The Safari will be decided over four routes, set by route-setters Sean Gill, Robin Hinds, Clive Howell and Paul Marshall, and crews can expect to be tested in the only event in the Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship to run through the night.
The first crew is scheduled to leave Applewhaites’ Plantation yard at 3 p.m. today at the start of route one, which will end with the dinner stop at Sol Speightstown, around 7 p.m. (TT)
