Sargassum’s back

THE PESKY SARGASSUM that two years ago threatened tourism and sea life is turning up again.

Mounds of the seaweed are washing ashore, especially on the South Coast, and becoming a nuisance for bathers.

Its presence has not reached the crisis proportions of 2015 but is enough to unnerve some Barbadians.

It is particularly noticeable along the popular Drill Hall Beach, St Michael, which is usually populated with beachgoers. Matthew and Sarah Coomber, sibling guests of a South Coast hotel, said it had not been a bother to them so far.

They consider it as part of the Caribbean experience. (AC)
