HE DIDN’T win the final, but Rising Stars’ Kentoine Browne was the only athlete to qualify for a major meet during the two-day Barbados Olympians Classic that concluded at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Browne’s lifetime best time of 21.14 seconds in the heats of the Men’s 200 metres, was under the qualifying standard of 21.20 for the Pan American Junior Championships in Peru, July 21-23.
The 19-year-old Browne returned to clock 21.36 seconds in the final, which was won by Joshua Walcott (21.20) with another senior athlete, Fallon Forde (21.22), second.
The experienced Jade Bailey completed the sprint double, winning the 200 metres in 23.44 seconds. On Saturday, the 34-year-old Bailey won the 100 metres in 11.60 seconds after clocking 11.52 seconds in heats. (RG/RA/EZS)
