FRESH FROM a fifth place finish at the World Surf League Qualifying Series 3000 Ichinomiya Chiba Open, Chelsea Tuach has advanced to the fifth round of the biggest women’s surfing event of the year in Mexico.

With 120 of the world’s top female professional surfers on show at the WSL QS 6000 Los Cabo Open, Tuach showcased her powerful, fluid surfing on the chest-high waves on offer Wednesday at Zippers Beach to triumph against three of Australia’s top female surfers, including the 2015 World junior champion, Isabella Nicholls.

“It was definitely tricky to find the right waves out there . . . . Luckily, I was able  to use the knowledge that I’ve gained surfing the break over the past five days to get two good scores and take the win. I’m thankful to be moving on to the next round and hope to keep the momentum going,” Tuach said in her post-heat interview.

Tuach will face Brazilian powerhouse Silvana Lima and Australian surfer Dimity Stoyle in the next round. (EZS)
