Nicotine caution

YOUNG PARTYGOERS inhaling fruit-flavoured nicotine from “hookah” pipes or vape e-cigarettes have Ministry of Health officials deeply concerned.

The new nicotine trend is becoming so popular that “hookah” lounges and vaping shops have sprung up on both the South and West Coasts.

Health promotions officer in the Ministry of Health, Donna Barker, sounded the alarm, telling the DAILY NATION the ministry had noted an increase in popularity and use of the new nicotine-based devices.

She said the ministry was moving to bring them under the same legislation that governed tobacco. (HLE)
