The HOTT 95.3 FM Mega Cavalcade might not have been mega in terms of crowd size but those who turned out at Checker Hall, St Lucy, on Friday night certainly made sure they enjoyed themselves.
The sole cavalcade on the National Cultural Foundation’s (NCF) Crop Over calendar signalled the start of the sweetest summer festival, which culminates in August.
While vendors complained of low sales, which they attributed to the location being so far north, residents of Checker Hall and surrounding areas welcomed the event that brought some nightlife to the community.
Parliamentary representative Denis Kellman, who arrived early, must have been pleased at the turnout for when the roll call was made by emcee Jamar The Starr, St Lucy’s shout was the loudest. On the night performances came from new artistes, as well as three monarchs, including son of the north, Stiffy. (NS)
