WEYMOUTH WALES took a massive step towards claiming the Digicel Premier League football title after they moved three points clear of the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) and Rendezvous, with a 2-1 win over Paradise on Sunday night.
Second-half goals from Romario Harewood and Arantees Lawrence were enough to see Wales over the line despite a late surge from Paradise, after Armando Lashley converted a penalty in the final minutes.
In another key game, Rendezvous were unable to keep pace after a 1-1 draw with Brittons Hill. This meant they let two points slip after coming into the match day level with Wales and BDFSP at the top.
With each team having three games left, Wales lead with 37 points while BDFSP and Rendezvous are on 34 points. (ML)
