THE CHANGING DEMOGRAPHICS of vagrants coupled with reduced operating capacity at its Tudor Street location is fuelling the Barbados Vagrants and Homeless Society’s renewed push to get a new home in Spry Street.

Director Kemar Saffrey said the society has engaged a public relations firm and was trying to whip up support from Barbadians and corporate entities.

He was speaking after accepting a $20 000 donation yesterday from CIBC FirstCaribbean’s chief executive officer Gary Brown and the managing director for Barbados and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, Donna Wellington.

Brown said the cheque was the first donation in what will become a five-year relationship which would see the bank donating a total of $100 000 to the BVHS. (HLE)
