EU pledge of support

BARBADOS IS GETTING THE SUPPORT of a powerful ally in its quest for energy self-sufficiency and campaign to highlight the effects of climate change.

European Union Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Daniela Tramacere, declared Tuesday that the EU stood behind Barbados in its advance towards energy self-sufficiency from local renewable resources.

Also, as the world’s largest donor of climate funds, the EU was demonstrating its commitment to this cause with an allocation of 1.3 billion euros to the global fight.

Addressing guests at a Europe Day celebration at her official residence, Tramacere restated the EU’s commitment to supporting Barbados and the Caribbean, listing climate change, environmental issues and sustainable development, among areas in which she said EU and Caribbean positions converged.
