Road tennis money bind

THE PROFESSIONAL ROAD Tennis Association (PRTA) has found itself in quite a bind, having failed to pay out a single cent in prize money for the Massy United Insurance Clash of the Titans despite receiving all $40 000 from the title sponsors.

The association’s chief executive officer Dale Clarke confirmed the news after several high-profiled players, including losing finalist Julian “Michael Jackson” White, publicly complained about not receiving their monies.

The story has taken a further twist, though, as a source close to the situation revealed that the association executive told Massy United Insurance it went well over budget and requested even more sponsorship money.

“It would seem that Massy have been left hanging in terms of what the PRTA could be asking for now because the two sides have a legal agreement to pay the $120 000 sponsorship money on an annual basis and that’s what happened in the first year,” explained the source.
