Barbados Women surge to lead in Super50

KINGSTOWN – Barbados defeated the Windward Islands by six wickets to register their fourth consecutive victory in the West Indies’ Women’s Regional Super50 Cricket Championship at Arnos Vale Wednesday.

Batting first in a match reduced to a 27 overs per side because of rain, the Windward Islands were dismissed for 83 in 24.3 overs after slumping to 15 for six.

Fast bowler Shamilia Connell was Barbados’ most successful bowler, taking four for 15 off six overs. Seamers Shakera Selman and Deandra Dottin took two wickets each for eight and 16 runs respectively.

Nerissa Crafton topscored with 26 off 35 balls for the Windwards while Quianna Joseph got 25 as they added 58 in 12.2 overs for the seventh wicket.

In reply, Barbados made 84 for four in 18.5 overs with Kyshona Knight scoring 28 not out of 26 balls, laced with four boundaries. Opener Hayley Matthews also stroked five fours in a breezy 24 off 26 balls.
