A NEW HOSPITAL is on the cards for Barbados.

The 200-bed facility is to be set up at the old BET building in Wildey, St Michael, by the new American University of Barbados (AUB). It should become operational in 2022.

AUB director Afzal Mehdi and Minister of Education Ronald Jones disclosed these additional plans for the university yesterday at the Wildey complex.

“We already have a hospital in India, so that is how we’re planning to have a hospital here also which will cater to medical tourism as well as to our own students . . . and we can have it free for the needy people also,” Mehdi told the DAILY NATION following a tour of the facility. (AD)
