BARBADOS’ 28-member team head to the CARIFTA Games in Curacao this weekend on a medal mission.

When the action starts on Saturday at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in Willemstad, the Barbadian athletes will be hoping to surpass last year’s 20-medal haul, which comprised six gold, six silver and eight bronze.

Last year’s double gold medallist, Jonathan Jones, and exciting hurdler Rasheeme Griffith will lead Barbados’ challenge under the guidance of new head coach Adrian Thorne.

Jones, who triumphed in the Under-18 Boys’ 800 and 1 500 metres, will be competing among the Under-20s for the first time but should make a successful transition. (EZS)
