VENEZUELA is all that stands now between Barbados and Group I.

Darian King held court once more, putting his country’s Davis Cup team in yet another Group II final following a comfortable straight-sets victory in his reverse singles rubber against Guatemala yesterday.

Entertaining an appreciative crowd at the National Tennis Centre, the world no.114 eased his way out of successive 0-2 holes to beat Christopher Diaz 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 in just over two hours to give Barbados an unassailable 3-1 lead.

It’s the second Group II finals appearance in four years for the triumphant Bajans, who will host Venezuela in September for the right to return to Group I next season. (JM)
