Garage and storeroom destroyed in fire, mosque damaged

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING a fire of unknown origin, which occurred around 2:55 a.m. today at Lot #5, 7th Avenue, Belleville, St Michael.

The blaze destroyed a garage, a Mitsubishi car and a Toyota SUV on the property of 72-year-old Ebrahim Mohamed.

A storeroom owned by Khubchand Karnani which contained building material was also destroyed. A mosque was damaged.

Three fire tenders and 12 fire officers under the command of Divisional Officer Errol Gaskin responded to the blaze which was extinguished  around 5:30 a.m.

Anyone who can provide any information to assist with this investigation is being asked to contact Central Police Station at telephone number 430-7143 or 4307176, 211, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS (8477), or the nearest police station.
