Ballroom Brilliance

FOR THE FIRST TIME in its four-year history, the It’s Strictly Ballroom And 10Dance Championships had its own night, and passion and precision were the factors that defined who were crowned champions.

Young men and boys in bow ties and vests, black or white shirts and black trousers take to the dance floor and stand stiffly with outstretched arms, while the females, some in fancy gowns and dresses, step gracefully into the hold, backs arched and heads thrown back.

The music starts, they count off and the dancers glide gracefully across the floor.

Held on Sunday at St Leonard’s Boys’ School, the competition unfortunately had the competition only had 15 couples who danced in front of a very small audience. (NS)
