Non-nationals ‘taking over’ squatters village

ONE OF the first squatters at Rock Hall Village, St Philip, is unhappy about the behaviour of non-nationals he said had taken over one section to build houses and were refusing to let locals in.

An unapologetic Curtis Greenidge said he was concerned in particular that “illegal” non-national immigrants had laid claim to most of the squatter settlement on the old dump site close to Gemswick, St Philip.

“There is this woman who has about ten house spots that she cleared and she is saying that the land belong to her and if anybody put a house on it she would burn it down,” he said. “What has me upset is that poor Bajans coming down here looking for land to set up their houses and she getting on bad and refusing to let them build.”  (MB)
