Call to step up water message

THE BARBADOS WATER AUTHORITY (BWA) needs to undertake more sensitisation programmes as it relates to water conservation.

Several business people who depend on water for their daily operations said the prohibition the BWA introduced a year ago was necessary, but should have been supported by an intense public education campaign.

Anderson Watts, owner and operator of car valet company Spotless Auto Detailers, said he was always conscious of his water use even before the moratorium was put in place.

However, he said the ban made no sense since the BWA was unable to state whether or not it had seen any decreased water usage or the water reserves had built back up. (LK)
