MEMBERS OF THE Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU) are adamant they will not be correcting any School-Based Assessments (SBA) unless they are paid.
That was the decision coming out of a “meeting to end all meetings” held yesterday by members at Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St Michael.
SBAs have been a part of the CXC assessment structure from its first examinations in 1979.
Stating they would not be bullied or threatened into doing the additional work by the Ministry of Education, the nearly 200 teachers packed into the Barbados Workers’ Union headquarters agreed they would neither be correcting SBAs nor submitting any marks without being properly compensated. (RB)
