MINISTER OF Education Ronald Jones says nursery education is pivotal to meeting the needs of three-and four-year-olds.
He, however, wondered why things go wrong ten years later given the promise shown by those youngsters during their early classroom experience.
“I wish to compliment all those teachers of our three, four, five-year-olds who dedicated their time,” he said.
“. . . it’s a joy to go into one of those schools and see how the intellect of those young students revolve – their level of enthusiasm; therefore sometimes you start to wonder what happens ten years down the road. What became of that excitement for learning . . . . that is something to be investigated.
Jones was speaking under the head of education during discussion of the Appropriation Bill 2017 in the House of Assembly yesterday. (JS)
