FORMER PRIME MINISTER OWEN ARTHUR is being blamed for halting the groundswell of support that might have eventually led to the “delegitimising” of the Freundel Stuart-led administration.
The assessment has come from political scientist Dr George Belle, who was speaking in the wake of yesterday’s downgrade by international ratings agency Moody’s and Stuart’s dismissive reaction to last week’s downgrade by Standard & Poor’s.
“I have said repeatedly that the description of the economy and the other problematic natures of the economy, that it is beyond economics now. It is a political problem,” Belle told the Weekend NATION yesterday.
And the path to elections, he said, lay with the delegitimising of the Government. (HLE)
