Youth parliament PM steps down

STAND FOR SOMETHING or fall for anything is a saying that youth leader Roshanna Trim lives by.

On Friday, the 21-year-old resigned as prime minister of the Barbados Youth Parliament (BYP), following a move by Government to prevent the BYP from debating lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights.

It was an intervention which Trim said should never have happened.

She told the DAILY NATION that the genesis for Friday’s topic came when the youth minister of sport, youth and culture raised the idea of discussing homosexuality.

Trim said the resolution for the topic was submitted two weeks ago. (AD)
