DOUBLE CARIFTA gold medallist Jonathan Jones has done a qualifying double this time.

The smooth-striding teenager qualified for the prestigious Pan American Junior Championships in Peru, July 21 to 23 and CARIFTA Games during Saturday’s opening day of the Louis Lynch Championships at the National Stadium.

Competing in the combined Under-20 Boys and Men’s 400 metres, the Elite Distance Programme (EDP) runner sped to a sizzling 46.92 seconds, cruising past the more experienced Fabian Norgrove (47.14) in the homestretch.

Apart from Jones, who won gold medals in the Under-18 Boys’ 800 and 1 500 last year but has now moved up the senior ranks, field competitors Enrique Babb of Coleridge & Parry and Ryshon Williams of The Lodge School brought the list of CARIFTA qualifiers for the April 15 to 17 games in Curacao to 14.
