THE QUEEN ELIZABETH HOSPITAL (QEH) will be engaging a technical expert from outside Barbados to determine what led to an incident involving one of its elevators last week.

Crucial information forming part of that investigation will come from the hospital’s own closed circuit television (CCTV) footage taken from a section of the facility’s northern wing, director of engineering Paula Agbowu told the SUNDAY SUN.

In confirming for the first time that an incident had occurred last week, the medical facility admitted several people were in the elevator at the time of the incident.

“We can confirm there was an incident last Monday and that a number of persons were in the elevator who would have been impacted,” the engineer said. “We obviously are investigating the incident, as it was a serious incident, and it was very unfortunate,” she added. (BA)
