LOCAL BASKETBALL is without yet another indoor venue.
Springer Memorial Secondary School’s basketball court seems to be out of bounds for the foreseeable future due to apparent safety concerns surrounding the deteriorating metal roof.
Inside sources at the school revealed the playing area was deemed unsafe. Yellow caution tape has been put up to keep students off the court, they said.
Further investigations by a SATURDAY SPORT team discovered several holes in certain areas of the roof covering the end of the court closest to the school’s parking lot.
It’s not known whether the supporting beams and the rest of the structure have been otherwise compromised as well, but there appears to be no damage to the roof covering the volleyball court or the end of the basketball court farthest away from the parking area.
