A CENTURY BY wicketkeeper/batsman Shai Hope and a quick half-century by captain Jason Holder restored respectability to the Barbados Pride score in the WICB Regional Super50 Final.
Playing against Jamaica Scorpions at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua and Barbuda today, Pride scored 271 for nine after tottering on 138 for five.
A quickfire start from Kevin Stoute (41) and Kraigg Brathwaite (22) was followed by Pride’s middle order folding in rapid succession. Jonathan Carter (8), Roston Chase (7) and Shane Dowrich (6) all failed to carry on.
Hope was joined by Holder and the pair unleashed a display of mammoth hitting, taking the score to 269 for six before Holder fell on 69, caught at long on by Jermaine Blackwood off Rovman Powell, attempting to clear the boundary again.
This was after Hope recorded his second successive century, off 96 balls, with five fours and five sixes. He was run out on 101.
Jamaica restricted the big-hitting Carlos Brathwaite and Ashley Nurse at the end to limit the damage.
Powell took two for 27 and John Campbell two for 35. Â
Summarised scores: Barbados Pride 271 for 9 in 50 overs (Shai Hope 101, Jason Holder 69, Kevin Stoute 41, Kraigg Brathwaite 22; Rovman Powell took 2-27, John Campbell 2-35) vs Jamaica Scorpions. Â
