Waves dismissal matter at standstill

THE EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS TRIBUNAL (ERT) case brought by a former hotel worker remains in limbo as parties seek to find the rightful defendant in the wake of the hotel’s closure.

Former night auditor/security officer at Waves Hotel and Spa, Wendell Storey, had accused the hotel’s management of unfair dismissal after an incident in September 2013.

Then, a guest was bitten by mosquitoes and, when she and her husband went downstairs for help, they found someone whom they assumed to be in charge of the property, sleeping.

That person was awakened but the guests claimed that person trivialised their complaint. The visitors complained through their travel agent. In the end, Storey was fired. (HLE)
