More waiting pains at BRA

FOR THE SECOND straight day, there were long lines at all offices of the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA).

From 6 a.m., two hours before some of the offices opened, several people were outside anxiously waiting to pay their income tax and land tax bills, and to secure licence plate tags, the deadline for which passed on Monday.

Several of those people stood in long lines for hours on Monday but never reached the cashiers’ desk.

One man, who went to the Oistins, Christ Church office at 7:30 a.m., said he was shocked to see about 60 people already in the line, adding that before the office opened its doors, that number had swollen to over 100.

“People turned up with chairs and breakfast,” he added.

Another man, who went to the office in Warrens, St Michael, complained that all of the cashiers were late.
