THE STREETS OF Graeme Hall, Christ Church, and the Ronald Mapp Highway should not be dark for too much longer.
That is because the groundwork is being carried out to reinstall the missing lights at Graeme Hall and install lights along the dark stretch of highway between Warrens, St Michael, and Welches, St Thomas.
Yesterday morning, workers from Williams Electrical could be seen working along the same stretch of highway at Graeme Hall where four young people lost their lives two weeks ago.
Williams Electrical worker Henderson Bootman said, “We’re marking out where the lights were and how many they had and we started from there.
“Then we have to try to source the poles and then construction has to come and dig back out the old pole bases and put them back down.
“We are doing the work on behalf of [Government Electrical Engineering Department]. As soon as they source the material and the bases are prepared, we would start putting them back up,” he said.
Bootman and colleague Denniston Boyce explained that there were 13 poles to be reinstalled on the stretch, pointing out that only two were still standing. (AD)
